The dollar has been rangebound against the euro most of Friday after a quick
dip in the single currency following a positive U.S. payrolls report early
morning, which provided investors a buying opportunity that boosted the euro
on the day.
Against the yen, drama-free equities performance has kept the dollar
rangebound as well. Investors are readying for the Federal Reserve meeting
next Tuesday, when they expect interest rates to be cut 25 basis points.
Friday afternoon in New York, the euro was at $1.4657 from $1.4629 late
Thursday, while the dollar was at Y111.62 from Y111.35. The euro was at
Y163.62 from Y162.87, according to EBS. The U.K. pound was at $2.0303 from
$2.0267, while the dollar was quoted at CHF1.1285 from CHF1.1301 late
Wednesday.
